...oh and personally, pencil has always felt the most natural to me. I've had some good experiences with pastels, but one thing I always loved of both was the ability to go in and blur, move the colors around...

pen, and some forms of painting, are so final, like "you drew that line, now deal with it!" but something about pencil/pastels always felt better to me... you made that stroke, but you can always go back in when you realize the better stroke you could've made. I guess it's a comfort thing...
