I paint to explore the beauty of nature and the human spirit. I am captivated by the marvelous design of the human body and the infinite variety of green on display here in the Pacific Northwest. I work mainly in watercolor to feel the adventure of letting the pigment share with me in the exploration of a subject. The excitement of watching colors bleed together in a wet on wet environment as the background takes shape is my favorite stage of any painting.
This winter has been a time for me to reflect on the human condition. I've been working on a series of nudes, hands, and portraits. I try to reveal the poise and strength present in the live nude models. This summer I'm looking to expand the series 'hands' and move back into landscapes. I believe in telling a story through art with some realism and a touch of the absurd.
